Silver Lake is a funky Eastside Los Angeles neighborhood known as LA’s epicenter of hipster culture. The neighborhood was named for the scenic Silver Lake Reservoir at its center. Silver Lake has a hilly topography traversed by dozens of colorful Insta-worthy staircases.

The neighborhood is also known for its painted staircases, which provide Insta-worthy photo backdrops and great views across the city.

Silver Lake is a foodie haven featuring some of Los Angeles’ hippest eateries. Sqirl is a hip café serving an eclectic menu of globally-influenced breakfast and lunch dishes and homemade jams. Night + Market has won a loyal following with its combination of authentic Thai street food and contemporary Californian creativity. Night + Market’s complex and flavorful cuisine has earned multiple James Beard Award nominations and rave reviews in publications such as Zagat. Pine & Crane is another Silver Lake cult favorite drawing on Asian culinary traditions. Things to Do

Silver Lake Reservoir features a scenic 2.2-mile trail loop running around the perimeter of Los Angeles’ largest freshwater preserve. The reservoir is the neighborhood’s main outdoor recreation area, with facilities including a dog park, basketball court, and the 2.5-acre greenspace of Silver Lake Meadow. The brightly decorated Micheltorena Stairs has been described as the most Instagrammed staircase in Los Angeles. The Micheltorena Stairs are one of several such colorful stairways in Silver Lake.
